Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Assistant/Associate Athletics Director of Development is an integral part of the fundraising team for Eastern Kentucky University. The Assistant/ Associate Athletics Director of Development will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors to advance the fundraising efforts at EKU, with emphasis on gifts of $25,000 and above. The Assistant/ Associate Athletics Director of Development will coordinate strategically with the Colonel Club and regional development activities in select geographic areas and will work closely as the lead development officer for athletics.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree is required, Master's preferred.

Experience: - Three years of work experience in collegiate athletics and/or non-profit fund development is required.

  • Experience with athletic annual fund and major gifts is preferred.

Licensure & Certifications: A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Job Duties:
  • 85% - Provide effective strategy and oversight of development prospects for assigned division(s). - Work and communicate with the Athletics Director, associate and assistant athletic directors, coaches, and members of the athletic external operations team. Help determine appropriate goals and solicitation strategies for these areas. - Provide leadership and structure for major donor solicitation while serving as a member of the overall development staff. - Develop and maintain an active donor portfolio of alumni, business, and civic leaders. - Make a minimum average of 15 visits per month, including: discovery calls, stewardship calls, cultivation calls, and gift solicitations. - Ensure the objectives of the Divisions of Development and Alumni Engagement and Athletics are met and that plans are implemented in a manner that supports the team effort of the Office of Major and Planned Giving. - Provide leadership in EKU's comprehensive campaign(s) and targeted campaign(s). - Ensure adequate contact with key prospects for the purpose of determining appropriate solicitation strategies for each individual or organization. - Provide a full range of development gift opportunities including annual, capital, endowed and planned giving options for prospects in athletics or a regional territory. - Successfully educate and move prospects through the giving cycle to assist with successful completion of the University's annual and campaign efforts. - Help identify key volunteer leaders within the division(s). - Identify public relations opportunities with individuals and organizations in the assigned college or regional territory. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Serve as advancement staff liaison for Department of Athletics. - Assist Athletics Department with Sport Supervision for area assigned by the Athletics Director. - Assist Foundation Scholarship Coordinator in assuring division(s) award and steward Foundation scholarships efficiently and effectively. - (Essential)
  • 5% - - Assist with tasks as may be necessary from time to time to promote and secure financial support for the University, its programs and initiatives. - Attend meetings, events, and trainings as assigned. - Comply with all laws, regulations, University policies and procedures. - Complete all other duties, assignments, and projects as assigned. - (Essential)
